What do Dieters really mean?

Today’s blog post is purely a bit of fun based on a recent article on the Guardian Website by Polly Vernon and India Knight about the difference between things that dieters say and what they really mean.
First of all let’s look at the kind of things the more rounded amongst us might say and what they really mean:
I am weak with hunger
This actually means ‘I feel very slightly peckish’. It can also mean ‘I am bored’, ‘I am sad’ or ‘I am happy’ – which is to say it means, ‘the fridge is my friend’. It isn’t.
The thing is, I don’t actually look that fat
This means you have not looked in a full-length mirror for some time, and are a dab hand at avoiding your reflection in shop windows.

It could be said that a guarantee is a guarantee. That it doesn’t matter as long as the weight loss supplement works. But have you ever stopped to ask yourself these questions? Which diet pill would you feel more confident in? The one that can offer you a 180 day money back guarantee (Proactol™) or one that only lasts 2 weeks ? Continue reading →
Find out How to Burn Fat with a Slimming Patch
Herbal weight patches work by administering their particular ingredients into the bloodstream via the skin with an adhesive patch. This process is known as ‘transdermal’. Patches are not a new thing as nicotine patches and even insulin delivery patches for diabetics have been around for years.
To some extent slimming patches are overshadowing traditional slimming pills due to it being a less risky form of losing weight because of the fact that there are generally no side effects as a result of using a patch.
Herbal slimming patches work by reducing appetite, increasing metabolism and therefore burning fat and losing calories. Continue reading →

This article looks at fad diets and their effect on the ongoing battle to lose weight naturally.
Fad diets today:
With obesity expected to affect over fifty percent of the world’s population in the next forty years, the time of fad diets and particularly celebrity fad diets and quick fix weight loss schemes is upon us and has reached epic proportions. From the cabbage soup diet to the 48 Hour Miracle diet, every single one of these weight loss fads claims to help you lose weight faster, quicker and easier than ever before. They also make great claims about experiencing an increase in metabolic activity. But can they really help you lose weight? Unfortunately on many occasions the answer is simply “no”. Apart from helping you achieve an immediate water weight loss of one to two pounds 90% of slimmers have reported a minimal weight loss of just one to four pounds before hitting a ceiling after two or three weeks. More worryingly, once dieters stopped following these fad diets they soon regained all the weight they had previously lost.
What are the long term implications of fad diets for our health?
Whilst it is true that some of the top celebrity diets can help slimmers to benefit from instant weight loss, almost all of them are not healthy for long term use. They can deprive your body of the essential key nutrients required to ensure that your metabolism is working at optimum capacity. Many diets involve lowering your calorie intake to 1,000 calories or less a day – just about half of your recommended daily allowance. Continue reading →
The top 10 worst foods
This article reveals 10 foods that are really bad for your body
True, we are surrounded by junk foods, packed with sugar, fat and salt and generally processed to the extreme – but which foods are the real ones to avoid? We’ve selected 10 of the big hitters, 10 foods that are really bad for your body and your long-term wellbeing.
We are not saying that these types of foods should never pass your lips again, it’s just a little reminder that they shouldn’t feature too heavily in your diet if you want to maintain healthy nutrition and maybe lose a few pounds.
Pork scratchings
Heavy and hard, we are talking fatty pig skin deep fried and then doused in salt. Also, if you are lucky you might even get one sporting a few hairs; pig hair is usually removed by quickly burning the skin before it is cut into pieces and cooked in the hot fat. Plus they are not great for your teeth either; we couldn’t get the stats on how many dental injuries have been inflicted by eating these suckers but we are guessing it’s pretty high.
Fried desserts
Fried desserts feature high up on the list of worst foods to eat as essentially you are dipping something in batter that is already high in sugar and fat, and then deep frying it. Don’t be fooled by pineapple and banana fritters either, they are no better because they are fruit, the layer of batter and the fact they are swimming in sugary syrup make them no go dishes too. A brilliant recent magazine article identified eight effective and simple ways to help you feel good, look slimmer
and reduce your tummy without going to the gym here is my take on them.
1 De-stress
A Yale university study found that stressed women are more likely to have fat around their stomachs even if they are otherwise slim. Stress causes the body to release adrenaline and cortisol, which are the fight-or-flight hormones. But because there is no danger instead of using these fat-storing hormones so they just float around your body together with the sugar they tell your body to release. Eventually they end up as fat on your tummy. Cortisol also induces a craving for sweet things.
In order to deal with the issues caused by stress in the short run instead of reaching straight for a biscuit or chocolate bar it is a good idea to sit for a minute and take six deep breaths. After this the best idea is to take some herbal tea or even a walk around the block.
In the long run building up magnesium is a good tactic. Magnesium is known as nature’s tranquiliser and is depleted when you are under stress. It can be found in nuts, wholegrain cereals, seafood and some mineral waters. It can also be taken as a supplement.
Signs of stress fat include eating while stressed, fat around the tummy area, eating quickly, craving sugary foods, over-eating after a bad day.
2 Eat the Right Way
Eating in a hurry or whilst doing something else can make a difference to your waistline. It is recommended that you sit down to a table to eat and take at least 20 minutes over a meal. Bolting down a quick sandwich while on the computer or eating in front of the TV are out because your focus is on what you are watching and not on the food. A key is to chew the food 20-30 times until it becomes a mushy paste. Food that has not been chewed takes longer to digest and can end up in bloating and wind. Moreover, well-digested food as well as reducing the risk of bloating can give you a flat stomach. Continue reading →

This article looks at the problems people have losing weight and the ways in which Hoodia Patches can help.
1) The problems with weight loss:
Weight loss can be a real challenge and there never seems to be a quick, easy or viable solution. There are
many so-called weight loss and dietary supplements claiming to magically rid you of your excess weight but they come at a high price, any weight you do lose, piles straight back on as quickly as you lost it and often the side effects you suffer as a result can have very harmful consequences. Not to mention having to take many of these supplements every single day, after food, or before food, all getting in the way of routine and of course it is not always convenient or possible to take tablets no matter where you are or what you are doing.
2) The transdermal method:
If you are searching for a weight loss aid that can deliver its weight loss promises, speedily with ease of use, with no side effects just great results then one avenue you really need to explore is the transdermal method of weight loss with a weight loss patch. One patch that is a step above the rest is the HoodiaPatch. Continue reading →
Are you obsessed with food and unable to resist those sinful ‘goodies’ that are the barrier to you conquering your weight?
1 The Problems we face Losing Weight
Many people find that sticking to a set diet that helps you cut calories and lose weight is a huge struggle. Many diets
mean a drastic reduction in the consumption of the foods you love such as chocolate, sweets, cakes as well as other snacks and nibbles. If you give in to temptation and start taking the odd snack it’s all too easy to watch all that weight that you’ve managed to lose gradually start to pile itself back on.
Dieting isn’t easy – it’s an uphill struggle made all the more difficult thanks to the numerous temptations and pressures of everyday life! Even if you’re one of the lucky few who has started to lose weight, you might find that however hard you try, you just can’t shed those last few pounds. However hard you try, however careful you are with what you eat, regardless of the amount of exercise you’re doing to burn off those unwanted calories you just can’t seem to reach your target weight.
How frustrating and demoralising!!! Continue reading →
